Congratulations to this week's recipients: Fin Bailey '23 & Matteo Bonivento '24

"I'd like to recognize an athlete who put in a lot of effort this fall," said Athletic Trainer Kate Boobar. "Fin Bailey took part in three competitive sports teams as well as kept up with his team training and academics. He is a force to be reckoned with both on the soccer field, on a mountain bike, or on the cross country course. Keep up the excellent work, Fin!"

"Before the bike race yesterday, Matteo was acting as a team mechanic, basically helping every rider with any technical problem," explained Nordic & Mountain Bike Coach Alex Jospe." I watched him changing Aleix's pedals for him, adjusting Janne's position on his bike, and dismantling his own entire derailleur in the minutes before leaving... he also schlepped over his entire tool kit to the race start, on a bike, just in case anyone needed any help. I really admired his desire to support his team. In addition, he showed some serious Effort and Bravery out on the course, which was brutally hilly, by posting his best race points of the season, and cracking the top five!"

B.E.A.R.S. Awards are given out on a weekly basis to highlight a recipient's positive contributions to the community through the demonstration of one (or more) of SMS's five values: Bravery, Effort, Accountability, Respect, and Strength.
