Parents

The purpose of the Stratton Mountain School Parents’ Association (PA) is to promote the school through the organized efforts and activities of the parent body. All families are members of the Parents’ Association. We welcome and encourage you to participate in the SMS community.

There are a variety of opportunities for all parents to become involved in the activities of the Parents’ Association. Please contact Katy McNabb if you are interested in learning more.

  • Parent Ambassadors

    The Parent Ambassador Program utilizes seasoned SMS parents from each discipline to act as a welcoming resource for new families. Parent Ambassadors have extensive knowledge of our community with regard to “how things work” and “what to expect” when you join SMS.  The goal of the Ambassadors Program is to establish a network of communication for conversation, support and feedback for our new families.
  • Grade Representatives

    Grade Representatives act as hosts for their respective grades. Two parents from each grade and from different disciplines help with communication amongst the parent body. This position requires a two-year commitment in order to establish continuity.
  • PA Table at Student Registration

    Welcome families to the SMS community.
  • Autumn Social

    The PA organizes a light breakfast for the parent community in the Patti Kaltsas Center. This is an opportunity for parents to get to know one another.
  • PA Table at Winter Term Student Registration

    The PA welcomes Winter Term families with appetizers and refreshments in the Patti Kaltsas Center.
  • The Winter Ball

    The Winter Ball is the largest fundraiser of the year at SMS; proceeds support the SMS Scholarship Fund.
  • Winter Breakfast Social

    The PA organizes a light breakfast for the parent community in the Patti Kaltsas Center. This is an opportunity for parents to get to know one another.
  • Spring Breakfast Social

    The PA organizes a light breakfast for the parent community in the Patti Kaltsas Center. This is an opportunity for parents to get to know one another.

    The PA organizes light fare and refreshments following the Undergraduate Awards.
  • Staff Appreciation Breakfast

    The Staff Appreciation Breakfast is a way to thank the teachers, coaches and the staff for a wonderful year of hard work and support of the SMS students.
Stratton Mountain School is an independent boarding and day school that focuses on college preparatory academics and competitive winter sports.
