  • Application Requirements & Deadlines

    Please visit our Application Process page to submit an online application. The application deadline is March 15th. For all applications received by the deadline, Stratton Mountain School will notify applicants by April 15. The Admissions Committee will continue to review applications after March 15 on an space available basis.
  • Interviews

    We encourage all candidates to visit Stratton Mountain School for a visit day. However, as an international family, this may not be possible.  For families not able to travel to Stratton Mountain School, we will schedule a zoom interview with our Admissions Department.  


  • Tuition & Financial Aid

    Tuition for international students is the same as tuition for domestic students.   Click here to apply for Financial Aid.  Our Financial Aid system calculates in US Dollars. Please complete the application with using the most up to date currency exchange rates.  
  • F-1 Student Visa

    Students must have an F-1 Student Visa to study in the United States. In order to secure an F-1 Student Visa, Stratton Mountain School issues an official I-20 Form to be used in the F-1 Student Visa application process. Prior to applying for the F-1 Student Visa, applicants must pay the I-901 fee online, through this link: (https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/index.html

  • I-20 Form

    Newly accepted international students are issued an I-20 Form. This form allows international students to remain in the United States for an extended period to attend Stratton Mountain School. It provides program information and proof of the student’s enrollment at SMS. International students are required to have their I-20 Form with them each time they enter or exit the United States. It is valid for each year the student is enrolled at Stratton Mountain School.

    For Stratton Mountain School to initially process the I-20 Form, eighty percent of the upcoming school year’s tuition must be paid in advance. Once payment is received, the Admissions Team submits the I-20 Form to the International Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). An official copy of the I-20 will be sent to the student’s family.

    International students must have the following documents when traveling outside of the United States:
    • Valid Passport
    • Valid F–1 Visa*
    • I–94 Form (departure record)
    • Original I–20 Form

    *At this time, Canadian citizens are not required to have a visa but are required to have an I-20 Form.
  • I-94 Form

    To re-enter the United States, students must carry their I-94 Form. Forms can be obtained through this link: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home
    Forms are typically given to students at the first boarder crossing, for example, Boston Logan International Airport.
  • Health Insurance + Immunization Requirements

    International students are required to have U.S.-based health insurance, Vermont Department of Health Immunizations, and a recent physical exam by a licensed medical doctor. Please contact Athletic Trainer Kate Boobar with questions.

Please visit our Application Process page to submit an online application. March 15th is our priority deadline for applications for admission as well as financial aid. For all applications received by March 15th, Stratton Mountain School will notify applicants by April 15th.

Stratton Mountain School is an independent boarding and day school that focuses on college preparatory academics and competitive winter sports. Located at the base of Stratton Mountain, SMS is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
