Stratton Mountain School Appoints Director of Campus Life

Kira Shaikh to oversee on-campus experience for student-athletes.
STRATTON- Stratton Mountain School has appointed Kira Shaikh as its new Director of Campus Life.

Shaikh, M. Ed., has served as a dorm parent, history teacher, varsity cross-country coach, and varsity softball coach at Lawrence Academy in Groton, Massachusetts for the last five years.

At Stratton Mountain School, Shaikh will oversee the campus life experience for all student-athletes, working with a team to create a dynamic and engaging on-campus experience. Shaikh will work closely with Head of School Carson A. Thurber ’02 and Assistant Head of School, Holly Wendell, to ensure student success.

“I cannot stress just how excited we are to have Kira on board,” said Thurber. “We wanted to find a director who could be a constant champion for a positive on-campus experience for our students, and I believe we have done just that. Kira is no stranger to the obstacles that come with living away from home, and she understands the need to create a wholesome environment for our student-athletes across all areas of campus life, making her a shoo-in for this position.”

Prior to working at Lawrence Academy, Shaikh obtained her BA in Sociology from Bates College and M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University.

Shaikh said she is excited to create a top-notch campus life experience at SMS. She will be living in the Little Dorm with her husband, newly appointed Math Teacher, Dustin Greene, and their dog Gunner come fall.

“I’m most excited to bring my energy to the campus life program at SMS,” she explained. “My goal is to create a program that works for the students as well as the adults to really make sure that campus feels like a home for everyone. My goal is to take those moments that we usually have with our own families- like baking cookies or sharing a meal together- and bring them into our school environment.”
