Congratulations to SMS Nordic student-athlete Wyatt Teaford '23 on being recognized as our first Student of the Week in 2021!
Teachers and coaches have witnessed a tremendous amount of growth in Wyatt in recent months. He consistently turns his classwork in on time and has become much more engaged in classroom discussions.
“Wyatt is a superb example of a present student,” said Nordic Program Director Matt Boobar during his Student of the Week presentation. “He is always listening with good eye contact, taking notes, contributing thoughtfully while allowing space for his classmates to speak, and also considering and responding to what they say.”
Wyatt has also demonstrated a massive gain in the psychological aspects of being a student-athlete, embracing processes over outcomes. By taking ownership of his academics and athletics, Wyatt has become more confident, and in turn, he is skiing faster than ever.
“Wyatt’s recent attitude and actions make him a great representative of SMS right here and in the greater community,” continued Boobar. “A great example of this was an interval training day at a nearby Nordic center. As described by a witness, a 6’4” blonde was flying around the trails with terrific technique, kitted out in SMS gear, while being very courteous of all the other trail users.”
