Congratulations to SMS Freestyle’s Tommy Bavaro ’24 on being recognized as Student of the Week!
Since he arrived at SMS in 7th grade, Tommy Bavaro has grown immensely as a student, an athlete, and an individual. His good nature and positive attitude has allowed him to pivot nicely amidst recent challenges and encourages his peers to do the same.
“This student is so eager to be an active participant in whatever is going on,” said one of his teachers. “He is positive, kind, and full of energy that focuses and encourages other people, too.”
While Academic Dean Alex Lehmann has not had the pleasure of teaching Tommy, he too appreciates Tommy’s friendly and polite nature. “He seems truly happy to be here,” said Lehmann.“He is making the most of all that SMS has to offer.”
Besides being friendly to his peers and faculty alike, Tommy holds himself accountable for his academic work and has made excellent improvements in the classroom.
"He has impressed me with his focus, determination, and commitment to his studies,” stated one of his teachers. “He should be very proud of his accomplishments.”
“Where before he was the one going to others for help in class, he now is the student in class who students go to for help,” added another.
“This athlete comes to training ready to commit to the daily plan fully,” said Freestyle Program Director Deb Newson. “We are excited to see his hard work in the classroom and during pre-season pay off at the starting gate this winter!
