Congratulations to SMS Freestyle’s Oliver Kosinski ’23 on being recognized as our latest Student of the Week!
Kind. Polite. Conscientious. Accountable. These are just a few of the words that our coaching and teaching staff use to describe Freestyle student-athlete Oliver Kosinski. Since joining us last year, Oliver has continued to impress the SMS community with his sheer dedication to excellence. He understands that the road to success isn’t easy and fully embraces the concept of improvement, both on and off the hill.
“Oliver continues to show how much he appreciates the opportunities that SMS has to offer,” said Freestyle Program Director and Coach, Deb Newson, during her Student of the Week presentation. “He cares about his training and schoolwork, he cares about doing things well, and he cares about his teammates.”
According to his English Teacher, “Oliver is curious, outspoken, and genuinely interested in doing good work. He is always open to making corrections and edits, and is not driven as much by grades as he is by a desire to understand and to become a better writer.”
Oliver’s other teachers echoed this sentiment, expressing a genuine appreciation for the care and consideration he brings to the classroom.
“This fall, Oliver’s artistic style began to emerge,” added his Art Teacher. “His personality, efforts, and craftsmanship are all exceptional!”
“He cares about doing the right thing and is not afraid to call someone out if they are not,” said another one of Oliver’s teachers.
Oliver also showed tremendous improvement on the soccer field this fall. Coach Sullivan shared that Oliver was one of the standout players on the JV team this season and looks forward to moving him up to the varsity ranks next year.
“Our coaching staff truly values this young man’s integrity and hard work,” concluded Newson. “It is with great pride that we present Oliver Koskiski as this week’s Student of the Week. Keep up the great work, dude!”
