Congratulations to SMS Snowboard student-athlete Mikey Dell’Aera ’26 on being recognized as our Student of the Week!
This SMS Student of the Week has an immense drive to improve. As a newcomer to the snowboard program, Dell’Aera had a little catching up to do. Rather than be intimidated by the challenge, he has pushed himself day after day to achieve his best results in the Air Awareness Center and the weight room.
“I was blown away by how much this man cared about what he was doing in the weight room, and just how intent he was about each rep and each set,” said High-Performance Director Will Horstmann during his Student of the Week presentation.
“Mikey has been committed to improving his skateboarding skills,” added Snowboard Program Director Ross Powers ’97. “He must have gone through three pairs of sneakers while working on his ollies, and now he can do one.”
Numerous teachers have described Dell’Aera as a phenomenal student who is always engaged. He actively leads discussions in the classroom, and many staff members find this young man to be incredibly mature for his age.
“It makes my job worth doing when I meet young men like this,” concluded Horstmann. “Give it up for our Student of the Week, Mr. Mikey Dell’Aera!”
