STRATTON, VT- Stratton Mountain School has entered into a professional agreement with Southwestern Vermont Health Care to provide its student-athletes and staff with the most robust health care service offerings in the region.
“I am incredibly proud to announce our partnership,” said Head of School, Carson Thurber ‘02, who worked with SVHC for five years as their Senior Gift Officer and Director of Development. “Creating a hands-on relationship demonstrates how two well-respected businesses can build on each other’s strengths to better our community.”
SMS student-athletes and staff will have access to SVHC medical programming, including on-campus wellness checks, telehealth services, urgent care, and access to 25 primary and specialty care practices across the SVHC network, which includes Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC), Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center, the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, and the SVHC Foundation.
“We believe that partnership is powerful medicine and SVHC’s agreement with Stratton Mountain School is a prime example,” said Trey Dobson, M.D., the Chief Medical Officer and Emergency Physician at SVMC. “It will play an important role in fostering a culture focused on health, giving people the tools and resources needed to live their healthiest life.”
Dobson will serve as SMS’ Medical Director throughout the 2020-2021 school year.
SVHC will also offer guidance concerning ever-changing COVID-19 policies, with Dobson actively working in partnership with the SMS COVID-19 Task Force to develop new protocols.
“[Dobson’s] expertise will be invaluable as the school continues to reassess and implement new policies throughout the school year,” said Thurber.
