SMS Camps

COVID-19 UPDATE: Stratton Mountain School has implemented mitigation strategies that will allow us to provide a safe and fun camp experience for all. All camp operations and procedures comply with guidance from the  CDC, VT Dept of Health, VT Agency of Education, US Ski and Snowboard, in addition to updated policies to our campus facilities.


Alpine Camps

The Stratton Mountain School Alpine Program is proud to offer a variety of ski racing camps around the world. The training camps are open to any racer and are scheduled throughout the year.

Our NextGen Mini-Camps (3-5 days) are hosted at Stratton Resort, where as the SMS Development Camps are much longer and held at Copper Mountain, Colorado and Mt. Hood, Oregon. These camps provide young racers with extra training to supplement their club offerings and an introduction to the SMS experience.

Freestyle Camps

The Stratton Mountain School Freestyle (moguls) Program offers a variety of camps throughout the year for aspiring athletes who want to take their skills to the next level. Please contact Head Coach Nick Keating for more details.

  • Freestyle Whistler Camp - Summer 2023

    Join us for SMS Freestyle’s Whistler Summer Camp 2023!

    The camp includes 12 days of on-snow training up on the Blackcomb Glacier, on the of the premier summer mogul training venues in the world. In addition to skiing, the camp includes water ramp sessions at the Blackcomb Water Ramp Facility.

    On snow, athletes will re-establish their baseline in the flats and refine their form and posture. In the bumps, through mogul sections and full course training, athletes will work on improving their turn technique & speed.

    In the air, athletes will focus on mastering their current jumps as well as increasing their trick degree of difficulty both on snow & on the water ramps.

    Off the hill, expect plenty of field games, light strength & conditioning, lake time, hikes, mountain bike rides, and many other adventures!

  • Freestyle Quebec Water Ramp Camps - Summer 2023

    Come join us up north at the AcrobatX training facility in Lac Beauport, Quebec! There are several mogul jumps at the Acrobatx water ramp facility allowing for great fundamental training on jumps that parallel on snow mogul jumps. The coaching staff believes that the volume of jumps and different jump take off's at the Quebec facility benefit the athletes greatly through the progression stages of learning new jumps and dialing in existing ones. Athletes have two training sessions per day in Quebec, allowing for at least 20-35 jumps per day.

    This SMS Freestyle water ramp camps consist of water ramp training. The camp also includes strength and conditioning sessions, trampoline sessions, video analysis, afternoon and evening activities and one day of exploration in Quebec City.

  • Freestyle Action Sports Camp - Summer 2023

    The Freestyle Action Sports Camp utilizes our Simpson Center for Action Sports on the Stratton Mountain School campus, providing campers with access to our full-sized foam pit, Ross Trampolines, the Max Air Super Trampoline, full-size skate park, strength and conditioning space, and our new rollerblade & skateboard Progression Ramp. Campers also participate in group activities, including field games, hikes, and trips to local swimming holes. Lunch is included in this camp.

    Session Dates: TBD @ Stratton Mountain School, VT - This is a 3 day camp. Lodging will not be provided. Athletes are invited to join us on the night before camp from 6:00-7:30pm for a meet and greet/BBQ.

Nordic Camps


The SMS Nordic Program hosts two camps at Stratton Mountain School throughout the summer. Camps are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration for both camps will open in Mid-March. Please contact Nordic Coach Matt Boobar for additional information.

  • BKL Camp

    Join us for an SMS Nordic camp next summer! The 2023 Stratton Mountain School summer Nordic camp will be held at the SMS Campus.

    The BKL Camp (5th-8th grade, 10-14yrs) 

    The SMS Nordic Program has combined sports science, a variety of proven training methods, a culture of athlete-driven excellence, and of course, fun to boast one of the most successful Nordic programs in the world. The program's unprecedented national and international success has produced 16 Olympians in the past seven Winter Olympics. Over 35 SMS Nordic athletes have made the U.S. World Junior Team, and 25 have made the U.S. National Team. Each Summer, SMS Nordic hosts two summer camps for young skiers filled on a first-come, first-served basis

Snowboard Camps

The Stratton Mountain School Snowboard Program offers a variety of camps throughout the year for aspiring athletes who want to take their skills to the next level. Please contact snowboard director Ross Powers for more details.

  • Young Guns Camp


    Join Stratton Mountain School for the SMS Young Guns Snowboard Mini Camp. This program is designed to introduce young snowboarders to SMS training and coaching. Provides an opportunity to get on snow coaching, video analysis, and get a glimpse of the life of an SMS student.

    This is a 2 day program comprised of on snow training at Stratton and Carinthia Parks at Mount Snow. In addition athletes will get access to our Simpson Center for Action Sports where they will participate in air awareness training on our Olympic trampolines and new Mega Ramp which allows athletes to practice new tricks into a foam pit.

    There will be a parent information session on the 2nd day which will provide an outline for the SMS admissions process and to answer any questions your family may have.

Summer Adventure Camp

The High-Performance Adventure Camp - coming to you Summer 2023! Join us for a fun week of conditioning, sports education, field games, and adventures in the mountains of Southern Vermont!
 
Campers will have a blast while improving their winter sports skills through circuit training, trampoline training, conditioning, field games, and adventures in the mountains of Southern Vermont. Campers will have full access to SMS’s world-class facilities, including the Simpson Center for Action Sports (formerly knows as the Air Awareness Center), which features a new progression ramp and super tramp. 

Each camper will participate in physical testing and training, the results of which will be utilized to develop an individualized program for each athlete to follow throughout the remainder of the summer and fall. Afternoons will focus on fun, with adventures including hiking, swimming, and mountain biking together with visits to a ropes course and alpine slide. Campers will also enjoy daily games on Stratton Mountain School's Luckenbill Field. 

Campers should plan to arrive on campus by 9 a.m. each morning. Activities will begin at 9:15 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. with lunch served on campus daily. On Friday, we will wrap up the camp after lunch, and pick up will be at 1 PM. 

All campers should come equipped with the following:
  • Day pack
  • Running shoes and hiking shoes, or two pair of running shoes
  • Water Bottle
  • Extra T-shirt
  • Sweatshirt
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Sun screen
  • Raincoat if the weather calls for it
