SMS Camps

COVID-19 UPDATE: Stratton Mountain School has implemented mitigation strategies that will allow us to provide a safe and fun camp experience for all. All camp operations and procedures comply with guidance from the  CDC, VT Dept of Health, VT Agency of Education, US Ski and Snowboard, in addition to updated policies to our campus facilities. High Performance Camp


The 2020 High Performance Adventure Camp will take place between July 27 and July 31 at the Stratton Mountain School campus. It will provide a fun week of conditioning, education, field games, and adventures in the mountains of Southern Vermont.   • High Performance Adventure Camp

    Mornings will focus on circuit training, where campers can work with certified coaches and trainers across disciplines. Alpine coaches, Jim Sullivan, Naga Kusumi, and Will Horstmann, will guide workouts and lifting techniques to develop strength and endurance. Campers will also participate in physical testing during this time, the results of which will be utilized to create an individualized program for each athlete to follow throughout the remainder of the summer and fall.

    Campers will also have access to our Air Awareness Center during this time, the best facility of its kind in the Northeast, including a foam pit, Ross trampolines, a Max Air Super trampoline, and a full-size indoor skate park. Freeski and Snowboard Directors, Jesse Mallis and Ross Powers, along with coaching staff, will teach on-tramp fundamentals that are useful in all programs, such as proper trick progressions, improving trampoline skills, tumbling, and air awareness.

    Afternoons will be dedicated to fun, with adventures including hiking, swimming, and mountain biking planned alongside visits to a ropes course and alpine slide. Campers will also enjoy daily games on the Stratton Mountain School's Luckenbill Field.

    The 2020 High Performance Camp is open to skiers and snowboarders ages 10- 15 and the total cost is $595- includes lunch each day.

Nordic Camps


The SMS Nordic Program hosts two camps at Stratton Mountain School throughout the summer. Camps are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Nordic Coach Matt Boobar for additional information.

  • BKL Camp

    The SMS Nordic BKL camp is designed for skiers entering grades 5 through 8. Campers are introduced to roller skiing and core strength as well as long-term training theories and techniques. The emphasis, however, is on being active, making friends and having fun! There are a wide variety of activities, including soccer, roller skiing, hiking, camp Olympics, swimming, evening entertainment, and ultimate Frisbee. This camp will take place at SMS between August 8 and 11, 2020. BKL Camp is open to skiers entering 5th through 8th grade, and the total cost is $415—which includes room, board, coaching, and a camp t-shirt.

  • Junior Camp

    At the SMS Nordic Junior Camp participants train with nationally ranked skiers, work on skills essential for success, and leave with an understanding of the requirements to improve their fall training and ski faster than ever. Activities include classic and skate roller skiing, ski striding, hiking, soccer, swimming, evening entertainment, and more. This camp will take place at SMS between August 11 and 14, 2020. Junior Camp is open to skiers entering 9th through 12th grade, and the total cost is $415—which includes room, board, coaching, and a camp t-shirt.

Alpine Camps

Stratton Mountain School’s Development Camps are open to U12–U16 racers and offer young racers the opportunity to experience ski academy coaching and training. Athletes engage in extensive SL and GS gate training, skill development through drills, video analysis, and tech talks. SMS Development Camps are open to any racer and are scheduled throughout the year from early season through spring, and finally, the summer. These are 3-5 day sessions and more extended summer camps at various locations, intended to provide young racers with extra training and an introduction to the SMS experience. Please contact Jim Sullivan for additional information. 
Stratton Mountain School is an independent boarding and day school that focuses on college preparatory academics and competitive winter sports.
