Maximizing Athletic Potential

Stratton Mountain School’s primary athletics include five winter sports: Alpine, Freeski, Freestyle, Nordic, and Snowboard. Athletes can compete at the highest levels and maximize their athletic potential. On-snow training takes place at Stratton Mountain Resort as well as other local mountains.
Our athletic philosophy is centered on a healthy approach to the competition, teamwork, and goal setting. SMS provides a successful strength and conditioning program based on physical testing performed in state-of-the-art training facilities. Our program develops the complete athlete by combining the essential fitness components: aerobic, anaerobic, agility, coordination, strength, and power. SMS’s goal is to understand and maximize each athlete’s potential.

All five of our winter sports programs have garnered Gold Level Certification from U.S Ski & Snowboard- one of the few ski academics with this distinction- and SMS was named the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Overall Club of the Year in 2020.
