Student of the Week, March 4
Congratulations to Patrick Flaherty `21 for being recognized as the SMS Student of the Week!
As said by SMS Alpine Coach Will Horstmann, who nominated Patrick for Student of the Week:
“First, some adjectives: committed, kind, sincere, hard-working, strong character, and high morals. Industrious, insightful, proactive, and positive. Mature, kind, thoughtful, and a friend to all. Kind to staff and students. Bleeds SMS to his core.
‘Last year, his first year here, he persevered through a tough injury and rehab, making a huge impression on those around him along the way,’ said one community member. ‘His fight, experience and the lessons nestled there within have led this individual to an interest in physical therapy and athletic training.’
Yet another said, ‘after being on dorm duty this weekend, it is clear to me how wonderful of a citizen, teammate, friend, and natural leader this individual is.’
‘I so appreciate how this student takes his time to get through all of his work where others might skip or gloss over assignments. They give everything their full attention and effort,’ added a third.
‘Cyclist, sailor, ski racer—this individual takes full advantage of the opportunities presented to them as a part of the SMS Community. They set a fantastic example for what it means to be a SMS student-athlete,’ said another community member.
In my personal experience, this guy is always ready to help. Whenever I ask for feedback on weight room sessions or how I did on the hill he is honest and forthcoming and generally helpful, and also contributes to our life discussions in the van rides home as well as our book club. Well done, Patrick!”
