Student of the Week
Congratulations to Maeve Fiske (Alpine `20) for being recognized as the SMS Student of the Week!
Maeve gives it her all in the classroom and on the mountain, and SMS teachers and coaches have noted just how hard Maeve has worked this year to be the best she can be.
This student has been praised for her organized and ambitious approach to academics, and—fun fact—she seems to always know the obscure vocabulary words that come up in class! Maeve puts in a concerted effort to not just earn the grade, but to learn the material, and her teachers appreciate the meticulous notes that she maintains to do so.
Maeve’s ambition and work ethic are ever-present on the mountain as well, and she attacks both competition and training with a fierce intensity that has landed her on the podium more often than not this season. Of course, that’s not all it’s about here at Stratton Mountain School, and this skier exemplifies the SMS mission to strive for excellence in academics and athletics while forming strong personal values.
“Maeve embodies what it means to be a student-athlete,” said SMS Alpine’s Head FIS Women’s Coach Micah Lashar, who nominated Maeve for Student of the Week. “On the ski hill and in the gym she always puts in the effort, and it’s shown with multiple podiums this season. What’s more important than those results, though, is that Maeve shows up to training each and every day with a drive to get better.”
