Holscher, Smith, and Krause Podium at FIS Nor-Am Cups

SMS Alpine alumni—and one current student—have taken Canada by storm in a set of FIS Nor-Am Cups held in Camp Fortune and Mont St. Marie, Quebec over the past week.

Stratton Mountain School student Diego Holscher `20, a member of the Chilean National Ski Team, kicked off 2019 with a top finish in Camp Fortune on January 3, winning first place among the U18 athletes in the FIS Men’s Nor-Am Cup Slalom competition and 33rd overall.

On January 5, alumnus Spencer Smith `16 earned a career-best Nor-Am finish by winning second place in the FIS Men’s Nor-Am Cup Parallel Slalom race. Smith is now a member of the University of Vermont Ski Team.

US Ski Team member and Alumnus Nick Krause ‘11 continued the SMS streak with his third place finish in the first FIS Men’s Nor-Am Cup Giant Slalom competition held on Sunday, January 6. The next day, Krause took first in the second Giant Slalom race.
