13 Podium Finishes for SMS Freeskiing in USASA Slopestyle Competitions at Carinthia Parks
Stratton Mountain School Freeski students scored a stunning thirteen podium finishes in the USASA Southern Vermont Snowboard and Freeski Series Slopestyle Competitions held at Mount Snow’s Carinthia Parks over the weekend. Those top finishes accompany a collection of impressive results for the Freeski crew at the Slopestyle showdown, which consisted of three contests over three days.
Charlie Gnoza `21 dominated the Open Class Men with two 1st place wins, followed by Zylas Hawkins `20 with 2nd and 4th place finishes throughout the weekend. The Freeski Breaker Class (Boys 12 to 13) saw two 2nd place finishes, alongside a 3rd place podium, from Durham Jones `23, as well as 2nd, 3rd, and 5th place results from Peyton Gray `24.
Emilia de Jounge `23 topped the podium twice throughout the weekend in the Women’s Freeski Youth Class (Women age 14 to 15), and all five SMS skiers in the Men’s Freeki Youth Class broke into the top ten. Bode Raffa `22 led the men with 1st, 2nd, and 12th place finishes. Xavier Schmid `22 claimed a 2nd place podium over the weekend, alongside 4th and 6th place results. Alex Wasyliko `22 took 6th, 8th, and 11th over the weekend, Max Hasaj `21 placed 5th, 8th, and 13th, and Matt Madden `22 finished 10th, 11th, and 12th.
