Student of the Week: November 19th, 2020

Congratulations to SMS Freeski’s Matt Madden ’22 on being recognized as the most recent Student of the Week!
Matt Madden has grown immensely during his time at SMS. His dedication to his teammates and efforts to better himself as a student and athlete over the years has not gone unnoticed.
“Matt’s passion for freeskiing, fishing, football, and all things SMS is clear to anyone that meets him,” stated Catherine “Doc” Sterling during her Student of the Week presentation. “He has really stepped it up this year athletically and academically.”
Matt’s teachers also commented on his noticeable improvements in the classroom. He is passionate, provides insightful comments, and willing to engage in spirited and respectful debate.
“I’ve seen some of their debates first hand,” continued Sterling. “It’s  great to see these students engaging with each other.”
The last week was not the easiest one for those living on campus. Despite this, Matt has maintained a fantastic attitude and has been a massive help to the residential staff. He even assisted in cleaning the dorms by doing multiple laundry loads and making beds, which every member of the residential community appreciated.
“Matt is a good friend and a kind soul,” concluded Sterling. “He makes a big effort to do the right thing and always to do his best. He is dedicated to the process of things - I think we can thank his coaches and many life chats from Tim Taylor for that.”
“All of your hard work and consistency is paying off, Matt - so many good things ahead for you!”
