The mission of the residential life program at SMS is to provide all students with a safe, caring and structured environment that fosters self-respect and respect for peers, staff, and our campus surroundings. Housing on campus consists of two dorms, the Big Dorm and the Little Dorm. Our dedicated group of dorm parents recognizes their role in providing a nurturing environment with clear and consistent boundaries encouraging a successful academic, social and athletic lifestyle.
Weeknights in the dorms consist of study hall hours and free time. Oftentimes, students use their free time to tune their equipment, play a game of basketball in the gym, watch a favorite TV show or continue working on their homework. Weekends at SMS offer a variety of activities, such as, a trip to the movies or our local skatepark, baking, ice-skating, paintball, local fairs, bowling, crafts and decorating for holidays, apple-picking, tie-dying, and bonfires with s’mores.
Our campus was built in 1999 and is within easy walking distance of Stratton Mountain Resort. The larger residential building features 30 double-occupancy rooms, each with two telephone lines and wireless internet access. There are also two common rooms, a 150-seat dining hall, washers and dryers.
The new "little" dorm, which was completed in 2005, has two double-occupancy rooms and two triple-occupancy rooms. Each room is fully equipped with telephone lines and wireless internet access. It also has two common rooms, washers and dryers.
