Will Koch Wins Young Playwright's Competition
Stratton Mountain School sophomore, Will Koch ‘20, has been selected as one of four winners in the Jean E. Miller Young Playwright’s Competition. There will be a staged reading of Will’s play, entitled For the Greater Good, at The Dorset Playhouse on September 29th at 7 pm.
Competitors were given guidance from a professional playwright and the winning plays were determined by a panel of nationally recognized playwrights. Playwright Matt Kirby visited Stratton Mountain School in the spring of 2017 and did a workshop with SMS students.
“Will’s play was inspired, in part, after reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, a collaborative effort in Tim Taylor’s physics’ class and my English class. Will is an excellent writer who worked hard to incorporate the feedback offered from Matt Kirby. He is very deserving of this honor” stated SMS English teacher, Mary Mangiacotti.
Stratton Mountain School is an independent boarding and day school that focuses on college preparatory academics and competitive winter sports. Located at the base of Stratton Mountain, SMS is accredited by NEASC and is a member of NAIS.
