Student of the Week
Presented on behalf of the entire SMS staff by Mary Mangiacotti
Each of you is already impressive to me because when it comes to your skiing or snowboarding, you have already risen above others your age. If you were in a different school, every student here would stand out for his or her talent in a winter sport. But if you want to stand out at SMS, it seems to me that you need three important qualities: commitment, discipline, and respect.
Those three qualities must be embedded in three areas: athletics, academics, and personal excellence. It does not matter if you are the best at everything, but it does matter that you strive for excellence as an athlete, as a student, and as a human being. This week’s Student of the Week is just that: committed, disciplined, and respectful.
This week’s Student of the Week is:
- Cheerfully and clearly contributes to class
- Strong individual
- Dares to be different
- Engaged learner
- Independently completed half of the Philips Exeter Math 1 curriculum over the summer
- Thoughtful and creative writer
- Beep test record breaker
- Hildene Lincoln Essay Contest winner
- Jean Miller Playwright Contest winner
Congratulations to this week’s Student of the Week, Will Koch ‘20!
